Medical Inpatient Services

Putnam General Hospital, Navicent Health Partner is a critical access 25-bed facility. Rooms are private, spacious, and equipped with windows, private bathrooms, flat screen televisions, temperature controls, and technology access. We cherish our nursing staff and are privileged to have the most qualified nurses in the area. Visiting hours for patients are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can reach the Nurses Station by calling 706-923-2078.

Medical/Surgical Unit

Our Medical/Surgical Unit admits patients with diagnoses across medical specialties. The individualized attention rendered is for a patient needing treatment for severe episodes of illness, surgery, or testing and observation. Physicians, Pharmacists, and Respiratory therapists work with our licensed staff to integrate their expert knowledge to ensure that you have an optimal environment and care for healing. Our nurses are trusted by patients and valued by colleagues as highly skilled and compassionate caregivers.

Intermediate Care Unit

In ICU, patients with acute pulmonary, medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions receive treatment and excellent care by registered nurses certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. In addition, professionals from varied disciplines add support whenever needed in nutrition, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and care coordination. The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Common services provided in the Intermediate Care Unit include:

Airway Management
Ventilator support for patients unable to breathe on their own
Insertion and maintenance of central IV lines and chest tubes
Critical care medications and IV infusions
Continuous cardiac monitoring
Wound care

Swing Bed

Swing Bed: A Medicare program that is designed to help an individual recover from surgery or illness close to home, here in Eatonton, Georgia. This Skilled Nursing Unit provides around the clock extended care for individuals who require skilled care to heal and regain their strength in preparation to return home. Beneficial for patients:

Recovering from joint replacement, other surgery, a stroke or cardiac episodes.
Battling cancer or immune deficiency diseases.
Needing treatment for wounds that require long term antibiotics not suitable for home or outpatient setting.

Speech Therapy Services

At Putnam General Hospital, a licensed Speech Language Pathologist is available to assess, diagnose, treat and help prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing and fluency enabling people to develop or regain vital communication to return to their daily lives. The following treatments are available to both pediatric and adults:

Receptive and expressive language treatment; Articulation; Stuttering, Pragmatic/Social therapy; Cognition; Dysphagia; Exercises for Speech and Swallowing; Oral Motor Exercises; Modified Barium Swallow Studies; Vital Stim swallowing treatment; and Comprehensive voice therapy.

Brooke McMillen M.ED.CCC-SLP is the licensed Speech Language Pathologist here at PGH. She graduated with a Masters in Communication and Science Disorders from Valdosta State University where she has been practicing as a Speech Language Pathologist for 12 years with experience with both pediatrics and adults. She has been Vital Stim Certified for 11 years where she can provide neuromuscular electrical stimulation to improve swallowing functions.
